FLENI - Fundación para la Lucha contra las Enfermedades Neurológicas de la Infancia

Fleni is a non-profit organization that was established by renowned neurosurgeon Dr. Raúl Carrea in Argentina in 1959 with the initial goal to help prevent and fight children’s neurological diseases. Over its 60 years of experience, Fleni has achieved an international reputation in the field of neuroscience, serving both adult and pediatric patients. With the support of institutional patrons and friends, Fleni has evolved to deliver a comprehensive range of services for neurological pathologies including prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation.

Why supporting us?

Fleni allocates the funds and resources it receives to various projects to stay at the forefront delivering first-class care to its patients, while solving the most complex health challenges and contributing to the education of its team of specialized neurosciences professionals. With valuable contributions, Fleni represents Argentina’s dedication to research and commitment to better health, sharing its efforts with the community.

How to collaborate?

Fleni is a member organization of HelpArgentina, and offers various individual and institutional alternatives for those who wish to support, from the outside, our initiatives and projects, from private donations to institutional sponsorships and participation in fundraising events. Recent initiatives

2018: Technology Upgrade at Fleni Escobar

The project includes the technological upgrade of our Center for Evaluation and Treatment with Rehabilitation Applied Technologies (CETTAR) at our Escobar site, and the upgrade of the High Complexity Hospitalization Units (UIAC), High Complexity Motor Rehabilitation Units (URMAC), and Conscience Stimulation Units (UEC). The addition of new equipment enables improving the assessment and treatment of children and adults in the area of balance disorders, motor dysfunction and cognitive disorders.

2017: New High Complexity Neurosurgery

The incorporation of state-of-the-art technology was designed to carry out high complexity surgeries and procedures on the brain, nerves and spine. The devices purchased for the Surgical Center include anesthesia and interventional radiology equipment, doors, scialytic lamps, and technical service towers for each of the highly complex operating theaters.

2016: New Neuro-oncology Unit

The Comprehensive Neuro-Oncology Unit was inaugurated to treat complex pathologies and improve the quality of patient care. The offices, the waiting room and the day hospital were redesigned and equipped in accordance with special needs. The sectors linked to Neuro-oncology - until then distributed in several floors – were gathered to optimize time and resources for patients and their companions.

2015: Upgrade of Radiosurgery Unit

This one-of-a-kind equipment in Argentina allows treating different brain conditions through the use of high precision gamma radiation in a single radiosurgery session (surgery without the need to open the skull). There has been a reduction in treatment time, and an increase in the number of procedures performed. Likewise, a fourth MRI device was acquired, and the Gamma Knife® service was remodeled for the care of up to four patients simultaneously.

2014: New Video Electroencephalography (EEG) Unit for Epilepsy

In order to study the different types of epilepsy, the last generation MICROMED® Video Electroencephalography Unit was established at our Belgrano Center, comprising four romos for long and short-term studies. The goal of this new unit is to reduce the waiting time for this study, which allows determining the possibility of surgically intervening patients with epilepsy.

2013: Upgrade of Intensive Care Units

To remain at the forefront of Intensive Care Unit services for Adults and Pediatrics, bed-side monitors were acquired for continuous visualization of patients’ clinical data and images from magnetic resonance, computed tomography and other connected devices.
