Hogar Maria Luisa
María Luisa is a foster care home that houses children whose rights have been violated, taking charge of their custody and education, so that they can be restored to a suitable family environment.
Maria Luisa Children’s Home was born over 140 years ago with the mission of responding to children’s welfare and education. It was founded in 1877 by Maria Luisa Schulz mainly to contain and promote the children from immigrant German speaking families. In today’s reality our mission has been adjusted to respond to the most urgent needs.
Our organization works with a child population in an extremely vulnerable context. We receive girls and boys between 4 and 12 years old, whose rights have been violated and derived with special protection measures by the State. In our home we annually house more than 40 children, who have been victims of violence and domestic abuse.
Our commitment is to welcome all these children and build together a better future for them by ensuring their rights to food, education, health, inclusion and recreation. We provide a safe space for containment and care.
