PROGRAMMES AT FMA
Identity Rights Programme
It is common that our clients, both adults and children, will lack an official identity document to enable them to access basic rights. This problem is particularly prevalent in marginalised communities who live in the “Villas Miserias” that surround Buenos Aires.
We provide assistance to clients in relation to obtaining personal identity documents, which involves officially registering or rectifying personal data. Depending on the circumstances, this will be either an administrative or judicial process. We also educate parents on the importance of registering the birth of their children.
Immigration Programme
Many of FMA’s clients are immigrants, often from Paraguay, Bolivia and Perú. We assist them with regularising their status within Argentina by helping them through the application process for legal residence.
Gender Programme
The majority of the people we support are women and sadly, many of them have suffered domestic violence and gender discrimination. For these individuals, we provide support through legal advice and assistance and also provide training and information on their rights through seminars and workshops.
NGOs Programme
FMA has built connections with a number of NGOs who work locally in the City and the Province of Buenos Aires. We use these connections to work proactively. Every month, volunteers visit these NGOs to provide legal advice and assistance to clients in their local area. Although the majority of our case work is generated through these clients visits, we also work with clients who call or come to our office.
