Fundación Huerta Niño
We are dedicated to the construction of agroecological community gardens in rural schools as a method, not only to improve the nutrition of children, but also as a learning tool that promotes the self-sustainability of the neediest communities.
Our Mission:
We focus our efforts on the construction of agroecological community gardens in rural schools not only to improve children's nutrition, but also as a learning tool that promotes the self-sustenance of the neediest communities.
Our Goals:
We seek that each school in Argentina has its own community garden project, promoting education about health and natural resources. We aim for each child to feel part of nature, being part of a virtuous circle. Moreover, we extend our support to families interested in starting or improving their own home-gardens, providing a greater impact in the community.
Our Programmes:
School Gardens Programme:
With more than 24 years of experience working with communities all over the country, we know that the educational and productive garden is a sustainable and proven response to hunger. We adapt our programmes to the specific needs of each community, providing immediate support and strengthening more than 800 communities across the country.
Familiar Orchards Program:
Starting from the school project, we extend our support to families with a similar methodology to the project management of the school orchard, to make sure the families have food through school, with training, provision of resources and accompaniment.
School Program:
We boost nutritional and environmental education by promoting the change of habits at school. We offer workshops and attractive and solid pedagogic materials, both in digital and physical format, so that the teachers can continue the work based on the orchard project, either virtually or in person.
Demonstrative Orchard:
During the pandemic, we built a space to use as an example to perform conferences and workshops for educational communities, volunteers and the general public.
