We are working on the following areas of action:
QUALITY OF LIFE - Empowerment of athletes: We promote the training and involvement of athletes so that they occupy significant roles on and off the sports field. Skills based training and competition provide the foundation for continued athlete leadership. By engaging IDPs as leaders we seek to improve their quality of life and change perceptions about what they can do.
INCLUSION - “Unified” approach: This approach cuts across all our areas of action and promotes the unity of people with and without intellectual disabilities, training and competing in team sports and jointly leading inclusive projects in their communities.
TRAINING - Community training: We implement training activities: courses, training and workshops for athletes, young students, coaches, teachers and families, for companies and other actors from organizations throughout the country. The awareness and involvement of the entire community is key to generating significant opportunities for IDPs, to improve practices and spaces for coexistence and exchange.
RIGHTS - Access to information: We disseminate accessible and relevant information for the well-being of IDPs, in accordance with the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, whose purpose is to promote, protect and ensure that all persons with disabilities can fully enjoy of their human rights and fundamental freedoms like others and likewise promote respect for their intrinsic dignity.
Advocacy in public policies: We participate in spaces for reflection to make visible problems that affect IDPs, seeking to influence public policies. We promote spaces for IDPs to share their voices under frameworks of rights and a dignified response.

Inclusive leadership
DID YOU KNOW THAT PEOPLE WITH INTELLECTUAL DISABILITIES ARE ONE OF THE MOST VULNERABLE POPULATIONS? We need you so that more people with intellectual disabilities transform their quality of life through inclusive leadership. INCLUSIVE LEADERSHIP is a crosscutting approach to all Special Olympics initiatives. The goal is to create environments in which people with intellectual disabilities have access to more and better opportunities to develop meaningful roles. Sport-based skills provide the foundation for continued athlete leadership. We are working to enhance skills, provide opportunities and promote the leadership of athletes, mainly through the following Programs: SPORTS AND UNIFIED SPORTS PROGRAM®, ATHLETES LEADERSHIP PROGRAM AND UNIFIED SCHOOLS PROGRAM.
