Equality Of Opportunities
Description: ACIJ's "Equality of Opportunities" project focuses on eliminating the barriers which currently prevent low-income and socially-marginalized communities of the Buenos Aires' metropolitan areas from accessing adequate public services, including water and sanitation, electricity, gas, transportation, communication, and education. ACIJ uses this project to leverage its current work on socio-economic discrimination and to expand our efforts in identifying and resolving cases of public service inequity. The project increases the impact of its work by placing discrimination issues in the media spotlight, educating public policy-makers, and pushing for the institutionalization of norms and practices which are more sensitive to the special needs of the urban poor. ACIJ aims to achieve measurable change in terms of policies and practices, with the goal of securing the rights of Buenos Aires' urban poor to access basic services and a quality public education.
