Ambulatory Operating Rooms Project
In 2021, in addition to extending the operating hours to meet the growing demand for services, a redistribution of shifts was carried out. This allowed an increase in some high-complexity interventions: Adult Cardiovascular Surgery: +25%, Pediatric Neurosurgery: +33%, Spinal Orthopedics: +33%, Pediatric Traumatology: +50%.
The current operation of the operational operating rooms requires a solution to improve the service provided to patients by the hospital. This will optimize service times, address service demand, increase capacity to handle urgent surgeries, and grow the number of high-complexity surgeries.
To achieve this, Austral University Hospital has designed a project to build a surgical center that will concentrate low and medium complexity interventions. This will optimize and increase high-complexity surgeries in the existing facilities. The new operating rooms will operate in an annex area on the first floor.
- Addition of 890 m2 for new operating rooms.
- Construction of five outpatient operating rooms, each of 24.19 m2. Construction of an ophthalmic operating room of 22.26 m2.
- Two recovery rooms based on criticality with 12 beds. Three rooms for endoscopies, each of 20.65 m2.
- Endoscopy washing and sterilization space of 22.3 m2.
- A sterile room, operating room coordination and nursing. Restrooms and changing rooms for patients.
- Offices and break rooms for staff. Support facilities for General Services.
